Dr. Doug Oyler, PharmD
Doug Oyler is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. He serves as the director of UK’s Office of Opioid Safety, where he leads the institution’s opioid stewardship program including development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to improve safe opioid use within the health system. He is currently principal investigator on grants from the U.S. Department of Justice and Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
HEALing Communities Study role: Oyler is a member of the prevention team, specifically aiding with overdose education and naloxone distribution across hospital, EMS, and pharmacy settings. He provided expertise on opioid stewardship practices and provided training and operating procedures to the implementation and community engagement teams to facilitate overdose education and naloxone distribution.
