Svetla Slavova is an associate professor in the Department of Biostatistics in the University of Kentucky College of Public Health and a faculty researcher in the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center. She is currently principal investigator on grants from the U.S. Department of Justice, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration. Her research interest is in drug overdose surveillance methodology, drug overdose prevention, analytical enhancement of prescription drug monitoring programs and health outcomes associated with substance use and misuse. In 2018, she was named Lexington Public Health Hero for her work to provide free community supplies of naloxone.

HEALing Communities Study role: Slavova serves as co-director for surveillance data in the Data, Informatics and Biostatistics core. She provides leadership in establishing infrastructure for collecting high-quality data for the primary and secondary outcome measures, data harmonization, statistical modeling, interpretation and translation of analytical results into actionable items.
